You don’t have to stop watering your lawn to help with the drought and water scarcity. A smart irrigation service can cut your water use in half. Keep your lawn and garden green and help save water, time, and money.

11am – 12pm Pacific

When 60-70% of water usage across the US is used outdoors, and 50% of that water is wasted due to over-watering or runoff, it makes perfect sense that lawns and turf are being targeted for reductions. If every resident and commercial landscape had a smart irrigation system we could exceed all water restriction standards, in some cases by twice the amount recommended. Homeowners and small businesses are beginning to feel the brunt of these ongoing changes in outdoor water use by government mandated restrictions, penalties, and PR campaigns such as “Brown is the New Green,” and your neighbors are encouraged to become suspicious if they see you’ve got a nice healthy lawn.

But a green lawn, lush garden or landscape is entirely feasible and reasonable, even in severe or drought conditions. “Brown” doesn’t have to be the new green in adapting to more effective use of water and conserving precious resources. You can easily and inexpensively cut outdoor water use by 50% or more and without removing your turf or allowing your property to get damaged from not watering. In this workshop you will learn the steps and how best to control your irrigation water and landscape costs. Use only the precise amount needed to maintain a thriving landscape and stay green.

This workshop will give a step-by-step approach for successfully changing your outdoor watering plans and schedules, and will help you maintain the smartest of landscapes:

  • Creating your personal “Optimized Irrigation Plan”
  • Evaluating costs of turf removal and xeriscaping alternatives
  • Understanding plant types, and microclimates
  • Thriving on aggressive restrictions, e.g. two days a week for irrigation
  • How to automate, retrofit an existing irrigation system without replacing it
  • Monitoring to guarantee the results

Workshop participants will receive a free tool that analyzes the outdoor water use of any U.S. property address. Demonstrations on how to use the tool will show how to generate detailed reports that identify the minimum water necessary for the types of grass and plant life on the property.

ETwater helps people understand their landscapes and practice good water conservation at home or place of business for better living. At the end of this workshop you will be able to measure how much water you use compared to what your landscape requires on a continuing basis so you can start saving water immediately. You’ll be able to tell neighbors why on your property “Brown is Not the New Green.”
