Special Guest: Michael Wymant, North American Director of Energy and Sustainability, Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions
ETwater is honored to welcome Michael Wymant, one of the foremost experts on sustainable construction, as special guest for a conversation and Q&A with attendees in the free webinar “Getting LEED Credit,” next Thursday, May 14 from 10:30AM – 11:30 AM PDT.
It’s not an understatement to say Michael has worked on BIG sustainability projects, including:
- Maximizing energy efficiency across Brookfield’s 130 billion square feet of North American real estate.
- Summitting the nearly 6,000-metre hulk Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as a member of the charity WaterCan’s first climbing team, and captured in the award-winning documentary “No Woman, No Water”
Please join us to hear Michael, have your questions answered, and to share your own experience in sustainable design and building.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED is intended to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently when compared to conventional buildings simply built to code. Many federal, state, and local governments and school districts require or reward LEED certification. In this webinar we’ll review the LEED Water Efficient Landscaping (WE) credit and provide information on demonstrating proof of reductions through implementing the ETwater smart irrigation system to obtain LEED certification.
Outdoor water use makes up one-third of residential water use, or approximately 9 billion gallons of water per day according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). About 50% of this water is wasted because of inefficient watering methods and irrigation systems. LEED certification includes credit for Water Efficient Landscaping for installation of smart irrigation resulting to prove reduction in outdoor potable water consumption. Whether you’re a landscape architect, developer, corporate sustainability officer, or home owner concerned about the environment who wants to be more knowledgeable about green alternatives, this webinar will help you understand how smart irrigation will automate, calculate and monitor your “Total Potable Water Applied” and increasing water savings annually.
