Water Restrictions and Keeping Your Lawn: Not Mutually Exclusive

DeadLawnSadly, this homeowner saved water by killing their lawn. It’s certainly admirable to save water, but it’s unnecessary to kill the lawn, reduce your property value and the value of your neighbor’s properties. I think a smart irrigation system can work within a 2-day per week restriction and maintain a healthy lawn with irrigation techniques like “cycle and soak” to eliminate water runoff, moisture balance replenishment to irrigate less frequently and drive the root structure deeper, along with using more efficient nozzles such a streaming spray to eliminate over-spray and misting. Isn’t the goal to save water through elimination of waste? Save water and preserve our natural beauty.
